The President of the Mountain Community of Valtellina di Tirano, Giordana Caelli, and the Councillor for Culture of the Mountain Community of Valle Camonica, Priscilla Ziliani, are pleased to invite journalists to the inauguration of the preview events of the ‘Festa della Cultura Alpina’, which will take place in Tirano from May 1 to 3, 2026. This is a dual appointment on Saturday January 24, at 5:30 PM, in the Exhibition Hall of Palazzo Foppoli in Tirano:
inauguration of the Abitare Minimo di Montagna exhibition created as part of the Festival all’Insù organized in 2025 in Valle Camonica, which represents a national showcase of “minimal” architectural interventions in the Italian mountains;
The dual event will also be an opportunity to present the project of the ‘Festa della Cultura Alpina’, conceived in the context of the Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026 with the support of Regione Lombardia. A festival of meeting and sharing, to tell, today, the alpine culture as a living and constantly evolving heritage.
The moment will be significant for the meeting between the Mountain Communities of Tirano and Valle Camonica: two geographically close territories that choose today to collaborate on a shared cultural initiative.
Exhibition | Abitare Minimo in Montagna
The exhibition Abitare Minimo in Montagna originates within the Festival all’Insù, organized in Valle Camonica in 2025, and is dedicated to contemporary architecture in the mountains.
The exhibition path tells about operations of reuse, rehabilitation, conservation, rewriting, and stitching of inactive architectural and building heritage, through interventions recognizable as contemporary.
The exhibition introduces the concept of minimal living in the mountains, understood as the ability to make mountain territories living places, while recognizing the limits of human beings in relation to the mountain ecosystem and promoting a conscious use of resources.
The exhibition consists of 25 panels measuring 47 × 200 cm and 2 panels measuring 120 × 200 cm, through which visitors can discover some of the architectural works selected for the international competition Abitare Minimo in Montagna.
Many of the presented architectural works tell of interventions capable of enhancing short supply chains, through the use of local raw materials and the involvement of artisans, guardians of local know-how.
The panels arrive in Tirano after being exhibited in prestigious international venues, including: Fachhochschule Graubünden (Chur, Switzerland), Bled Culture Institute (Slovenia), Architekturgalerie München (Germany). The architects behind the competition will also be present at the inauguration.
Installation | Mountain Echoes – Yuval Avital
Mountain Echoes, by artist Yuval Avital, is an installation created in collaboration with the agency The Round Table.
The work transforms the soundscapes of Valtellina into “speaking sculptures”, creating an immersive experience that relates community, nature, and contemporary art, giving voice back to the territory through sound.
For the public, free admission from January 23 to February 23, 2026
