From June 19 to 22, the prestigious Karate Camp, promoted by ISK, CSAIn Lombardia, and FIJLKAM Lombardia, in collaboration with Mortirolo Academy, took place in Sondalo. The event was supported by the Municipality of Sondalo and APT Sondalo, and received contributions from AVIS Sondalo and CSAIn Nazionale. This year, the camp chose this picturesque corner of Valtellina as the ideal location to host around a hundred athletes from all over Italy. The retreat was held at the new gym of the Cittadella dello Sport in Sondalo, accompanied by the large adjacent green area, a natural setting that increasingly confirms itself as a reference point for high-level sports retreats.

The protagonists of this edition were the promoters of the Camp, Vincenzo Figuccio, coach of the Carabinieri Sports Center, and Sara Cardin, coach of the Olympic Sports Center of the Army. The event saw the participation of 15 elite athletes in the kata and kumite specialties, coming from the two prestigious military sports centers.

The heart of the Camp resides in an innovative idea: to connect high-level athletes with young enthusiasts, thus creating moments of true sharing on the tatami. Amateurs had the unique opportunity to train side by side with champions, experiencing their expertise and professionalism firsthand and receiving valuable teachings in an atmosphere of mutual respect and growth.

But the Camp was not just about sports. During breaks, participants were able to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature in Sondalo and Upper Valtellina with a relaxing dip at Bormio Terme: a perfect blend of training and discovering the territory.

On Sunday, June 22, the closing ceremony took place, during which institutional representatives expressed their greetings and appreciation for the initiative. The highlight was the sports demonstration by the great champions present, which excited all participants and the audience.

The Summer Karate Camp represents an important milestone for Sondalo, which has been hosting retreats in various sports disciplines such as volleyball, football, athletics, and basketball for years, but for the first time welcomed a high-level karate event in the new gym of the Cittadella dello Sport. This confirms the vocation of the area and its facilities to be a national reference point for prestigious sports events.
