Red Dinner 2025

On Wednesday, November 26, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Administration of Sondalo, together with APF Valtellina, the Anti-Violence Center "Il Coraggio di Frida," and with the support of APT Sondalo, promoted the third edition of the "Cena in rosso." An initiative created to raise community awareness about respect, equality, and the condemnation of all forms of violence.

The dinner, sold out with 130 participants, the proceeds of which will be allocated to the activities of the Anti-Violence Center, saw strong participation from citizens, associations, and authorities. Among the notable attendees was the Prefect of Sondrio, Dr. Anna Pavone, who reiterated the importance of supporting victims and strengthening protection networks so that every woman can live free from fear and aware of her rights.

Also present were Vice Commissioner of Sondrio Maurizio Antonucci, the Captain of the Carabinieri Company of Tirano Riccardo Angeletti, the Captain of the Guardia di Finanza of Tirano Antonello Di Gaeta, the Commander of the Carabinieri of Sondalo Francesco Spoltore, the Commander of the Local Police of Sondalo, the president of the Amazons Association Giuseppina Osmetti, and Sara Della Bosca for APT Sondalo.

Mayor Ilaria Peraldini, the promoter of the evening, centered her speech on the issue of gender violence, expressing satisfaction with the large participation: “The issue of gender violence, as a woman even before being Mayor, is deeply close to my heart. Even in 2025, Italy records a very heavy toll: 77 femicides and 68 attempted femicides, most of which occurred within family or emotional contexts, precisely in those domestic walls that should be the safest place. Not to mention the violence that remains in the shadows because it is not reported. The hope is that evenings like this do not remain isolated episodes, but serve as a warning for everyone and contribute to a profound cultural change, without which violence cannot be stopped. A message of absolute condemnation towards these actions must be conveyed, as they represent the failure of our society and the loss of the moral values on which civil coexistence is founded. All of us, institutions and citizens, must feel committed to the real implementation of the principle of equality enshrined in the Constitution. Today, while many new rights are proclaimed, I believe that it is still necessary to fight for the full affirmation of fundamental rights.”

Following this, the head of APF Vallesana, Valentina Mostacchi, emphasized how important it is to talk about these issues even in schools “because it is there that consciences are formed and new generations are educated to respect and non-violence.”

A wide space was then dedicated to the representatives of the provincial Anti-Violence Center "Il Coraggio di Frida," Elena Simonini and Alessandra Brusa, who shared their daily commitment alongside women seeking help: “We want to be a point of reference, offering listening, protection, and paths to autonomy. Violence is never the victim's fault: breaking the silence, overcoming prejudices, and building support networks are fundamental steps towards a future free from violence.”

The evening concluded with a heartfelt thanks and a long applause for the students, collaborators, and teachers of the "Vallesana" Training Center for their hospitality and care of the service.
