The Municipality of Teglio was a stop for the “Giro d’Italia in paramotore,” organized by a team of Spanish pilots who came to the Alps from the Pyrenees. The six enthusiasts of this fascinating discipline — which combines paragliding with a motor with a propeller carried on the back — are following a route along the most beautiful mountains of the Alpine arc and have already had spectacular flights in front of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, to name a few.
After flying in Switzerland and over Lake Como in the previous days, today the team took off early in the day in Valgella, in Tresenda di Teglio; from here, the route stretched to the Alta Valtellina, flying over the peaks, lakes, and valleys of the Rhaetian side on the Swiss border, before returning to the valley floor. Enthusiastic comments from the pilots, all originally from San Firmino di Pamplona, a village known worldwide for the famous bull run: “Teglio and the entire Valtellinese territory have caught our attention for their natural beauty and warm hospitality.”
Welcoming and assisting the group were the members of Team Tei, a historic reality in paragliding and hang gliding born in the very heart of Teglio in the early 1980s, thanks mainly to the passion and commitment of the Valli family. To ensure the smooth running of the sports day in complete safety, the local pilots requested and obtained full cooperation from the Azienda Agricola Londoni in Tresenda, which exceptionally made its vast green area along the Adda River available, where take-offs and landings took place. As a sign of friendship, some local paragliders took flight from the high take-off points, greeting the passage of their Iberian colleagues.
“It is a source of pride for our Municipality to have been chosen and visited by this lively and determined Spanish team — commented Donatella Marcionni, councilor for culture and tourism — especially since the spirit of the initiative perfectly aligns with our growth and development goals set for the coming years.” In the same spirit, the Bellero Green Factory agritourism welcomed the caravan equipped with vans and trailers for transporting the motors and wings, allowing participants to appreciate the identity values of the territory.
