Traona and Talamona will be the first two municipalities to inaugurate the 2025 edition of the food and wine festival that takes place in Bassa Valtellina.
The appointment with Gustosando in Valtellina returns, the food and wine festival that for years has accompanied the Valtellinese autumn with paths of taste and discovery among the most fascinating historic villages of the Bassa Valle. An experience that combines flavors, culture, and local traditions, allowing visitors to savor the typical products of the valley in suggestive contexts such as centuries-old cellars, noble palaces, courtyards, and ancient streets. Gustosando represents an opportunity for the local community and tourists to meet, enhancing the identity of the territory through conviviality and the storytelling of its places.
“We are proud to launch a new edition of Gustosando in Valtellina, which represents not only a food and wine festival but above all a cultural and tourist enhancement project for our valley,” says Camillo Bertolini, Director of the Consorzio Turistico Porte di Valtellina. “Each involved village brings with it a unique story and a community that warmly welcomes visitors. Our goal is to provide an authentic experience, capable of narrating Valtellina and the territory of Morbegno as a land of hospitality, traditions, and innovation.”
The event will be opened by the municipality of Traona, followed the next weekend by Talamona.
TRAONA
Traona will inaugurate the event on the weekends of September 20/21 and 27/28. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in one of the most architecturally rich historic villages in Bassa Valtellina. Its center conserves noble palaces such as Palazzo Parravicini and the church of Sant’Alessandro, which recount centuries of history linked to noble families and local viticulture. Here, a route unfolds among six historic cellars, where visitors can taste Valtellinese wines and local specialties, from appetizers to desserts, in a setting that combines tradition, art, and landscape. Unique initiatives such as Wine Dog Trekking will also be featured, a walk through the vineyards surrounding the village with four-legged friends, alongside workshops, children’s entertainment, and musical activities. Furthermore, during the two weekends, it will be possible to have lunch and dinner with typical dishes also at the trattorias and in the square, thus enriching the visiting experience.
TALAMONA
Talamona has its roots in the medieval era when it developed as an agricultural and commercial center at the foot of the Orobie mountains. Its historic courtyards, the heart of community life, still attest to the peasant tradition and the strong sense of belonging of the population. The Parish Church of S. Maria Nascente and the historic center house precious works of art, while the narrow streets and stone houses create a particularly evocative atmosphere in the village. Here too, during the last weekend of September and the first of October, participants will be able to experience a journey through alleyways, historic houses, and seven locations in the village, where they can taste traditional dishes accompanied by Valtellinese wines. Unique to this offering will be reenactments linked to peasant life and stories from the ancient courtyards, narrated by volunteers along the route. The program is enriched with musical entertainment, activities for both adults and children, and the Festa del Boscaiolo with an aperitif in the Pont dei Frati area, enhancing the offerings of the first evening.
“This new edition of Gustosando presents itself in the best possible way with many proposals to discover the territory through its typical products and its most characteristic views,” says Maurizio Papini, President of the Comunità Montana Valtellina di Morbegno. “Thanks to the municipalities that have participated, the associations, and the many volunteers, coordinated by the Consorzio Turistico Porte di Valtellina, Bassa Valle offers a traveling event that enhances and promotes our traditions in continuity with previous editions, focusing on its peculiarities. As the Comunità Montana di Morbegno, we hope, while hoping for favorable weather conditions, that what has been organized and set up by the volunteers is appreciated by a wide audience of residents and tourists.”
As mentioned, after the two events in September, Gustosando will continue in October with a schedule involving four more municipalities: Albaredo per San Marco (October 4/5 and 11/12), the new Buglio in Monte (October 4/5), Mello with its cellars (October 11 and 18), and Dubino (October 18/19).
