On the occasion of this important anniversary, the museum has opened its doors with free admission during morning and afternoon time slots, recording a large influx of visitors throughout the day. The celebrations concluded at 6:00 PM with a final toast, a moment of gathering and sharing that brought together volunteers, institutions, and citizens.
Over ten years, the museum's heritage has grown significantly: from about 300 objects present at the time of opening, it has reached today a collection of over 6,000 pieces, consisting of everyday life objects, clothing, documents, and photographs that narrate the history and evolution of Livigno and Trepalle.
From 2015 to today, MUS! has welcomed a total of over 36,200 visitors, with an annual average ranging between 3,500 and 4,000 presences, thanks to a regular opening schedule and the constant commitment of volunteers, currently 20, who actively collaborate in the museum's activities: from wool processing with courses and workshops, to research and cataloging of historical objects and photographs, up to support during events and manifestations such as the Festa del Costume, the Festa Patronale, and the Alpenfest.
During the celebratory day, it was the volunteers who participated in the institutional moment of gratitude, receiving official recognition from Mayor Remo Galli and Social Minister Cristina Rupani for their constant commitment to both the resident community and visitors.
Over the years, MUS! has developed intense cultural and scientific activities, joining since 2017 the Museum System of Valtellina and, from 2023, the Rebel - Network of Ethnographic Museums of Lombardy. Numerous collaborations have been initiated with entities and institutions, including Centro Studi Storici Alta Valtellina, Università IULM, Università di Pavia, Breraut Restauri, and important television productions.
The museum has also promoted several publications, including Quaderno del MUS! n.1 – The first steps of tourism in Livigno, I m’èn clamè, dedicated to photographs of the conscription classes, Livigno yesterday and today, and Magie… from sheep to wool thread. There is also a broad and ongoing participation of local schools in the proposed educational activities, which strengthen the bond between historical memory and new generations.
The tenth anniversary of MUS! thus represents not only a celebration but also the confirmation of the museum as a vibrant community space, guardian of memory and a meeting place between the past, present, and future of Livigno and Trepalle. A museum that, through the active participation of volunteers, the involvement of schools, and dialogue with the world of research and culture, continues to narrate the identity of the territory and to transmit it to new generations.
Livigno recognizes in MUS! a fundamental cultural presence, a place to support and enhance over time because it is capable of strengthening the sense of belonging and providing depth and meaning to the development of the area. The care given to the museum demonstrates how much the community values its history and its preservation, considering it a living, shared, and indispensable resource for building the future without losing the connection to its roots.
