A special day to bring together sport, the mountains, and Olympic values: the Journey of the Olympic Flame will light up the village on Saturday afternoon with the passage of the torchbearers in the town center. 

The route will start from Piazza della Chiesa and end at the ICE Arena, the ice rink in Madesimo, where DJ sets and entertainment are planned, along with two skating shows and a hockey match. 

In the late afternoon, there will be a meeting in the Conference Room with Giuliano “Razzo” Razzoli, the last Italian to win the gold medal in slalom, while all day there will be an open exhibition dedicated to Valtellinese athletes.

The Journey of the Flame and events at the Ice Rink

Starting at 14:30, the public will be able to access the ICE ARENA - with free but mandatory reservation, where, in addition to the DJ set, there will be a figure skating show, creating the perfect atmosphere for an afternoon of sports and sharing.

At 15:30, one of the most symbolic moments of the entire event is scheduled: the departure of the Olympic Flame from Piazza Giovanni Bertacchi. The public will be able to follow the three torchbearers along the route, while inside the ICE Arena it will be possible to watch the live broadcast of the journey on the big screen.

The first torchbearer with the Olympic flame, symbol of peace, passion, and sportsmanship, will cross the town center from Piazza Bertacchi to Via Carducci, while the other two will take turns proceeding along Via Alle Scuole and conclude the journey in Via degli Argini at the ICE Arena at 15:45.

Accompanying the torchbearers along the route, in addition to the enthusiastic public, will also be athletes from local ski clubs, ski instructors and coaches, players from hockey clubs, and all local operators.

Upon arrival at the ICE Arena, the Olympic Flame will greet the public and continue its journey towards Sondrio. On the ice of the Palaghiaccio, there will be room for institutional greetings and brief interviews with the present athletes.

Following the show, the public will be able to admire an exciting synchronized skating performance and watch a youth U12 hockey demonstration, showcasing young talents and the future of ice sports.

Giuliano Razzoli, the Olympic champion, shares his experience

The program continues at the Palazzina Servizi in Madesimo for an unmissable appointment with Giuliano ‘Razzo’ Razzoli, the last Italian skier to win a gold medal at the XXI Winter Olympic Games in the slalom discipline. Razzoli will share his experiences with the public, the challenges faced, and the deep meaning of the Olympic spirit. The meeting, free entry, will be held in the Conference Room at 17:30.

The Olympic Exhibition to celebrate Valtellinese athletes

All day long, from 10:00 to 18:00 in Sala Carducci, the exhibition “Valtellinese athletes and medal-winning blue athletes at the Olympic Games” will be open for visiting, a journey through images, stories, and successes that have written memorable pages in Italian sports.
