Literary presentation Saturday, August 23 in Val Masino, one of the most iconic and celebrated valleys of the Central Alps - the Lombard Alps and the entire Alpine region. "Avamposto 5," an "eco-novel" of adventures by environmental journalist Danilo Rocca, is being presented.
Holidays and literary August
The summer Valtellinese journey continues for the novel "Avamposto 5" by environmental journalist Danilo Rocca. After the literary afternoon in Gerola Alta, Orobie Alps Park, the August appointment is in Valmasino, Retiche Alps, on Saturday, August 23 at 8:45 PM. The novel, which has parts set in Valtellina, arrives in Valmasino as an elected destination.
The side valley of Valtellina, with incredible granite peaks at 3000 meters altitude and with the rugged cliffs and erratic boulders that dot the meadows, is a place of infinite fame among mountain enthusiasts. We are talking about Alta Val Masino, Central Alps, around Val di Mello, Comolake, a harsh environment, forests as far as the eye can see for a mountain whose primary value is the pure beauty of the views and the integrity and defense of the environmental integrity.
The evening will be hosted by Valmasino Turismo, the operators of the granite valley. Rocca has worked extensively in the areas covered, formerly a reporter and top writer for Il Giorno; an environmental reporter for the Province of Sondrio, previously in Milan as editorial director at Rcs Grandi opere, Garzanti reviewer, and a television personality at Tele Nova. In Valmasino, he also worked as a teacher in the local school.
"Avamposto 5" is the presented novel: released right before summer, in April, by Calibano Editore, Milan, 260 pages, brings an adventure dimension to the representation of the alpine world. Finished in 2020, it is articulated into three main stories that intertwine with settings ranging from the Central Alps to the Orobie Alps, Mont Blanc, and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, identifying and promoting solidarity and a spirit of service as a barrier against the collapse of our civilization. It speaks of unwavering friendship, voluntary actions, epic, sacrifices, heroism, reminding us, as the author says, that one must live among others, not blindfold oneself, be straightforward, and "one only loses if one does not help each other."
