Everything is ready in the capital of the Low Valtellina for the 2025 edition of Morbegno in Cantina, which will officially open on Saturday, September 27, for the first of the three weekends planned.
The event, promoted by the Municipality of Morbegno, which has entrusted the organization to the Tourist Consortium Porte di Valtellina, will enliven the city also on October 4 and 5 and on October 11 and 12, attracting visitors from all over Lombardy.
The opening of the wineries is scheduled for 4 PM and will be preceded, at 3 PM, by the inauguration with Mayor Patrizio Del Nero, the president of the Consortium Viola Vanini, the authorities, and the partners. It will continue until 10 PM and resume on Sunday at 12 PM and run until 6 PM.
Announced with new itineraries, gastronomic offerings, collateral activities, and musical entertainment, the new edition has captured the interest of numerous enthusiasts who have purchased passes for one of the four proposed Tours.
Whether it is the Rosso, the Bolle, white and... red, the Rock, or the Oro'26, what unites them is the refined selection of Valtellina wines, with 36 labels on tasting, representing twenty wineries, and the perfect pairings with typical products and dishes.
Pizzoccheri, polenta and salami, cheeses, primarily Valtellina Casera and Bitto, and cured meats, with Bresaola della Valtellina, typical cakes: the best of agri-food production from appetizer to dessert. There are 25 tasting points, managed as always by volunteer associations, which will organize and animate the wineries.
They will welcome the participants and serve them with sommeliers from Ais and Onav who will present the wines. From Valtellina Superiore to Sforzato, precious pieces of local tradition, to sparkling wines and rosés, up to the productions of small wineries, wines will be the main stars of the event along with the locations that will provide the backdrop for the tastings.
The routes of the four Tours will guide participants into ancient wineries, open for the occasion, in a suggestive atmosphere.
Local groups will brighten the streets of the center with their music. On Saturday, September 27, it will be the turn of the rock bands Indaco and Radiokaos and Alessandro Moroni, who will propose covers of Italian songs; on Sunday, September 28, the Celtic and folk music of Blast in the Wood, the beat of the '60s-'70s from Debeat, and Alessandro Moroni can be enjoyed.
There is great curiosity about the collateral initiatives, with news of yoga offered in two sessions on Saturday mornings at Palazzo Malacrida, and bike excursions towards the Retic fractions, culminating in the southern cloister of the former convent of Sant'Antonio to enjoy pizzoccheri and polenta.
Advance purchase of passes on the website www.morbegnoincantina.info is always recommended, but during the entire event a sales point will be open in via Pretorio, where advance tickets can also be collected, in addition to the Bossi squares, in front of the station, and Sant'Antonio.
They will be open on Saturday from 3 PM and on Sunday from 11 AM. For information, you can contact the Tourist Consortium Porte di Valtellina by calling 0342 601140 or by writing to cantine@portedivaltellina.it.
