The second edition of Morbegno Alps' Festival 2025 has been officially presented, with a dedicated press conference, a major winter event that will bring meetings, cultural events, shows, and initiatives related to the mountain and its identities to the city from December 9 to 14. A rich and widespread program aimed at enhancing the territory and involving the public, families, schools, and enthusiasts.

“Through Morbegno Alps' Festival we want to create a great communication hub dedicated to the Alps, addressing themes that today more than ever concern us closely: tourism, sports, climate change, environment, wellness, and culture – said Patrizio Del Nero, Mayor of Morbegno –. It is a way to affirm our presence and our willingness to actively participate in the debate on the future of the mountain. Morbegno ideally opens its belonging to the Olympics with interest and a spirit of collaboration, as demonstrated by the inaugural initiative with the folk group from Livigno and the other activities that animate the Festival. The lights and the brand dedicated to winter sports also testify to this attention and this desire to be present.”

Following that, Anna Gusmeroli, Deputy Mayor of Morbegno, emphasized how the festival is in its first true edition and renewed thanks for the support to all those who have contributed to the realization of the project. After recalling Christmas Art, scheduled on the two dates preceding the start of events, she presented the program of the days in detail.

Morbegno Alps' Festival 2025 proposes a rich program that will animate the city with meetings, shows, and moments dedicated to discovering the territory. After the presentation of the Rapporto Montagne Italia 2025 on December 9, the event starts on Thursday 11 with the meeting Work for You, dedicated to professional orientation in mountain areas, followed in the afternoon by the parade of Olympic mascots and the official inauguration. In the evening, the Auditorium will host the event Fitz Roy in Winter – Tribute to Renato Casarotto, with the participation of climbers and protagonists of Patagonian ventures. On Friday the 12, the conference Future4Alps will take place, organized by the Valtellinese Economic Society, while the evening will be dedicated to the Guide Party of the Park, during which there will also be the awarding of the contest devised by the Orobie Valtellinesi Park. Saturday the 13 will feature guided tours for the historic center and Palazzo Malacrida organized by students of the Saraceno Institute, followed in the afternoon by the Book’s Festival with the presentation of the Lonely Planet guide Alps on the Road and the book Discovering the Alps by Albano Marcarini. At 5:30 PM, the exhibition Snow and Identity: the White Century of Valtellina, curated by Loredana Senna, will be inaugurated, with guest Chicco Cotelli, while the traditional descent of Santa Lucia from the bell tower will light up the evening, before the screening of the docufilm The Hundred Days and stories of young cheesemakers. On Sunday the 14, the guided tours will continue, followed in the afternoon by the parade of the 5th Alpine Regiment with the band. The day will close with the evening The Alpini Tell Their Stories, with testimonials and music. For the little ones, throughout the Festival, appointments will be held with Spherical Cinema The Polar Night, creative workshops by the Association 2020, and, on Sunday the 14, wooden sculptures in Sant’Antonio Square.

“The mountain is sports and tourism but above all it is identity and values – thus emphasizes Camillo Bertolini, Director of the Valtellina Tourist Consortium –. And it is precisely thanks to these elements that we can today tell stories that concern us, that make us unique and that differentiate us from other territories. These stories have their roots in the past but they are not legends; they are stories that are alive today. And the beauty of the Alps’ Festival is that it wants to talk about tourism and sports, but it wants to do so starting from our authentic stories and our communities.”

“We want to thank everyone who makes this initiative possible because for the Orobie Valtellinesi Park the festival represents an important opportunity to make our territory known – said President Marco Dioli –. It is especially a precious moment to enhance the work of our guides, a reality with a long tradition behind it and with whom we have built solid and significant agreements. Their presence is essential to allow citizens and visitors to truly discover these places, understanding their wildlife, flora, and delicacy of natural balances. The evening dedicated to the guides is also a way to recognize the great work done by the Alpine Rescue, to whom we extend our deep gratitude. Thank you all for your commitment and participation.”

“I am very pleased with the proposal to screen the docufilm: it was presented in Gerola not long ago and the message seems to have arrived strong and clear – said Daniele Colli, agricultural entrepreneur and councilor of the Tourist Consortium, regarding the event on Saturday the 13 –. I am proud of this. Its value does not lie in the celebration of a single story, but in the celebration of the story of our Alps. It tells what the shepherds do every summer in the alpine pastures, with dedication and passion, and I hope this message can inspire many young people to actively engage in the mountain and rediscover its most authentic meaning.”

In conclusion, thanks came from the Presidente mandamentale dell’Unione Commercianti Yuri Dolzadelli, who emphasized how merchants strongly believe in these values and events. With commitment and collaboration, we continue to support a lively, welcoming, and opportunity-rich Morbegno.

Morbegno Alps’ Festival is an event organized by the Municipality of Morbegno, with the collaboration of many local and provincial partners and with the contribution of resources from Regione Lombardia.
