Do you love dried fruit and are looking for a simple, fragrant, and irresistible recipe? These crunchy almond and hazelnut treats, made with whipped egg whites and a touch of cinnamon, are perfect for pairing with tea or enjoying as a light dessert after a meal 🥰🌰. A traditional preparation that does not require flour, suitable even for those seeking gluten-free sweets (checking the raw materials).
📝 Ingredients:
- 150 g of shelled hazelnuts
- 150 g of shelled almonds
(or other dried fruit to taste) - 250 g of sugar
- 3 egg whites
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
👩🍳 Preparation:
- Toast hazelnuts and almonds in the oven for a few minutes, on a baking sheet, being careful not to burn them.
- Coarsely chop them with a knife and set them aside.
- Start whipping the egg whites with a whisk (or in a stand mixer), adding the sugar in three stages, starting when the whites begin to foam.
- When the mixture is well whipped, add the dried fruit and cinnamon, gently folding with a spatula from the bottom to the top.
- Transfer the container with the mixture into a pot with two fingers of water and cook in a double boiler for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- With the help of two teaspoons, scoop small portions and place them in mounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- No need to shape them precisely, but keep similar sizes to ensure even cooking.
- Bake at 170°C (preheated oven) for about 30 minutes, avoiding browning them too much.
