Theater Season in Ponte in Valtellina

The 2026 theater season at the Cinema Teatro Vittoria in Ponte in Valtellina has reached its 20th edition and offers six shows from January to May. It opens today, January 31 at 9 PM, with "R.S.A. Your last days...?", a brilliant comedy by the Ernesto Croci company from Morbegno 

The program continues with puppet shows and comedies until May. Tickets cost €10 (full price) and €5 (reduced for under 14 and disabled). Reservations are available at the Library (tel. 345 2569139), online at www.lavetti.it/prenotazione or via email at cinemateatrale@netesi.net.

Diverse le interpretazioni sull'origine del nome: secondo alcuni occorre far riferimento ad un ponte sull'Adda strategicamente importante; altri sostengono che un attraversamento obbligato si sarebbe invece trovato sul torrente Ron; altri ancora citano il romano Pontum e, infine, una diffusa spiegazione ricorre al longobardo "biunte". Certamente abitato in epoca romana, risulta dai documenti che il borgo assunse fisionomia autonoma dopo l'anno 1000, periodo in cui importanti nuclei familiari vi immigrarono da Como. Tra essi le famiglie Quadrio, sotto il cui controllo il prestigio di Ponte andò progressivamente accrescendosi e rafforzandosi.
